Bibliography

Bibliography of Medieval and Early Modern Monastic Libraries in the Czech Lands and Neighbouring Territories

The aim of this bibliography is to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date overview of historiography on medieval and early modern monastic libraries in the Czech lands, with slight overlaps into Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine. The bibliography covers the period from the early Middle Ages to 1620. At its current stage, it records research on book collections rather than on individual manuscripts or prints. As for data on the Austrian libraries of the Canons Regular of St Augustine, our bibliography is greatly indebted to the Klosterbibliotheken in Österreich database.

The bibliography remains a work in progress, with new entries being added. We therefore warmly invite users to contribute: If you know of an article, book, website, or database that should be included here, or if you have any other comments, please send them to adela.ebersonova@fhs.cuni.cz.
