The house of the Canons Regular of St Augustine in Jaroměř was founded in 1349 by the Archbishop of Prague, Arnošt of Pardubice, and it ceased to exist during the Hussite Wars in 1421. Its history was brief, and only a fragment of its library has survived. We therefore lack the evidence needed to form a clearer picture of the book culture of this order in northeastern Bohemia.
Only five manuscripts from the Jaroměř library have been identified. They are mostly codices from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, predominantly parchment and richly decorated. In terms of content, the collection is dominated by Bibles, exegetical literature, and sermons.
